I am a freelance museum curator, oral historian, creative producer and project manager, passionate about broadening access to collections through collaboration. I am sole director of my limited company, Jen Kavanagh Ltd.

With over a decade's experience in the museum sector, I have worked at institutions including London Transport Museum, Science Museum and Museum of London, before going freelance in 2015 and establishing my company in 2022. My work involves supporting community collecting initiatives, curating exhibitions, leading on oral history projects and providing advice and guidance for museums, charities, trusts and community organisations. In 2021 I opened Bow Street Police Museum.

I specialise in community heritage projects and contemporary collecting, with engagement and collaboration at the core of my practice and experience. I believe museums should better represent their audiences and that collections should be diversified to ensure they remain relevant.
